Adventure Therapy Groups
Adventure Works offers a unique opportunity to youth in DeKalb County to engage in group services to meet the social-emotional and behavioral needs in the outdoors. Groups are facilitated by mental health staff with specific training in facilitating outdoor experiences, and offer the opportunity for individuals to receive support and feedback from their peers.
Costs per participant are based on a sliding scale. All youth in DeKalb County are welcome, regardless of ability to pay.

Cost is $32.50 an hour for every group - financial assistance available.
Adventure Works groups incorporate developmentally appropriate adventure and experiential activities to address the complex needs of our youth today. Interventions are designed and selected to improve distress tolerance, problem solving, self-efficacy, relational and communication skills, all while engaging youth intentionally with the outdoors. All groups are facilitated by mental health professionals under the agency ethos of gather, guide, grow.
Early Elementary Group
Ages: 1st - 3rd Grade
Meets: Every Monday from June 10th to July 29th, 2024 (8 week program)
Time: 1:00-2:30 PM
Location: Russell Woods Nature Center: 11750 IL-72, Genoa, IL 60135
Capacity: 10 participants
Note: parents/guardians drop off and pick up at Russell Woods
Middle School Group
Ages: 6th - 8th Grade
Meets: Every Monday from June 10th to July 29th, 2024 (8 week program)
Time: 3:00-5:00 PM
Location: Russell Woods Nature Center: 11750 IL-72, Genoa, IL 60135
Capacity: 10 participants
Note: parents/guardians drop off and pick up at Russell Woods
Older Elementary Group
Ages: 4th and 5th Grade
Meets: Every Wednesday from June 12th to July 31st, 2024 (8 week program)
Time: 1:00-2:30 PM
Location: Adventure Works: 1211 Sycamore Road, DeKalb.
Capacity: 10 participants
High School Group
Ages: 9th - 12th Grade
Meets: Every Wednesday from June 12th to July 31st, 2024 (8 week program)
Time: 3:00-5:00 PM
Location: Adventure Works: 1211 Sycamore Road, DeKalb.
