We are Adventure Works, a local DeKalb nonprofit organization whose mission is to change lives of youth through adventure therapy and experiential learning. This winter and spring we are fundraising, collecting in-kind donations, and accepting volunteers to support the construction of our Bird and Butterfly Sanctuary & Sensory Garden!

The Project
Create a peaceful, nature-based experience for youth that supports mental health and teaches the value of native spaces for a healthy local ecosystem - and provide a home to those species! 
The Impact
  • Offers a sensory-friendly experience for youth with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory-sensitive individuals.
  • Educates youth to support and sustain our local ecosystem.
  • Provides a mindfulness space promoting mental health through connection with nature..
  • Boosts native plant, insect, butterfly, and bird populations!

  • Bird baths, feeders, houses
  • Watering cans
  • Gardening gloves, small gardening tools
  • Benches
  • Prairie seeds, soil
  • Landscaping tools, gift cards to Lowe's/Walmart
  • Sign Making Materials (wood, paint, brushes)
