Angie Berthelsen | she/her
Practice Manager
Angie brings a unique blend of experience and passion to her role as Practice Manager at Adventure Works. She holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology and is currently pursuing a second master’s in Social Work, reflecting her deep commitment to the connection between mental and physical health.
With a background rooted in fitness and a love for the outdoors, Angie is driven by a passion for helping others grow stronger, both mentally and physically. She believes in the power of movement, nature, and connection as essential tools for healing and growth, which aligns perfectly with the mission of Adventure Works.
When Angie’s not working, you’ll likely find her out on a hiking trail, at the gym, kayaking, or enjoying just about any activity that gets her outdoors. She also loves reading, catching live music, diving into podcasts, and traveling to new places for fresh inspiration and adventure.

Anna Brodarick | she/her
Clinical Intern

Anna is pursuing her Masters in Counseling in Clinical Mental Health online through the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Her approach to therapy is person-centered, solution-focused, and attachment- and story-based. With a heart for nature, she is thrilled to be adding adventure therapy to the mix through her work and learning at Adventure Works. When she is not interning, you can find Anna in her flower garden or hanging out with her dog, a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix that keeps her moving and enjoying the outdoors!

Jaylen Dellahousaye | he/him
Clinical Intern
Jaylen is a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Northern Illinois University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from NIU in 2023, with double minors in Family & Child Studies and Counseling.
Jaylen's counseling approach is strengths-based and mindfulness-informed, emphasizing the awareness of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors - and how they all relate to one another. He is intentional about meeting clients where they are, honoring their pace, and following their lead when navigating uncomfortable or challenging topics. At the same time, Jaylen gently challenges clients to deepen insight, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change. He strives to create a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered and in control throughout their therapeutic journey.
Outside of counseling, Jaylen recharges with activities like weightlifting, crocheting, playing basketball and football with friends, and watching movies and anime! Jaylen also loves to travel and experience nature, most recently going to the Grand Canyon and Devil's Lake State Park!

Hannah DiSilverio, MSEd | she/her
Adventure Therapy Coordinator
Hannah is nearing the completion of her Master of Education degree with a concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She brings valuable experience working with children in both athletic and rehabilitative environments, with a strong emphasis on the transformative power of outdoor activities to promote growth, resilience, and meaningful connection. In her role, Hannah will be managing behind-the-scenes logistics and facilitating group sessions designed to foster a safe, inclusive space where individuals can thrive. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys making strides on her running journey and unwinding with a good book.

Paige Gilson, MSW, LSW | she/her

Paige is a licensed social worker with a deep passion for supporting children and their families through compassionate, client-centered care. He experience in school social work has provided her with valuable skills in crisis intervention, behavioral support, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. While she has thoroughly enjoyed her work in schools, she is excited to transition into the clinical setting, where she can foster deeper, one-on-one therapeutic relationships and broaden her impact in new and meaningful ways.
Paige is committed to using a trauma-informed approach and focusing on each child’s unique strengths to help them navigate challenges with resilience and confidence. When she's not working, Paige loves spending time with her wife, Joy, and their dog, Bellatrix. Together, they bring warmth, laughter, and adventure into her life. She also enjoys indulging in the theatre, which allows her to unwind and connect with her creative side.

Shannon Kaecker, MSW, LCSW, CCAT | she/her
Education and Training
Shannon believes in the power of relationships for healing, and that all individuals have the capacity for growth. Her work demonstrates her values of curiosity, playfulness, and authenticity. Shannon is also a licensed clinical social worker and certified clinical adventure therapist. Outside of the office, Shannon enjoys crocheting, learning Latin slowly, and hiking.

Jessica Lupont, MSW, LCSW | she/her

Jessica believes in helping individuals reconnect with themselves, with others and with the natural world. Jessica values compassion, authenticity and creating a space where individuals feel supported and understood. With a background in animal-assisted therapy and a love of nature, Jessica has seen firsthand how nature can be a powerful agent in the healing process. Jessica is a licensed clinical social worker working towards becoming certified as a clinical adventure therapist. When Jessica isn’t working, she enjoys gardening, baking, spending time with her chickens and taking her dogs on nature walks.

Lauren Mackey, LPC, NBCC | she/her
Clinician
Lauren is a graduate from DePaul and Adler University, earning her BA in Community Psychology and a dual MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Forensic Mental Health. She has experience in community and inpatient mental health, primarily working with youth. She believes in providing a safe and non-judgmental space for all youth to feel comfortable participating in therapy. Lauren has worked with youth from ages 5-18, addressing a wide variety of mental health diagnoses and trauma-related concerns. Her approach is centered around self-awareness and mindfulness in a way that can help fit the individual needs of each client she works with. Lauren loves the outdoors and engaging in activities like running, skiing, hiking, camping and kayaking!

Liz Spencer | she/they
Engagement Coordinator
Liz's experience in the mental health field and numerous nonprofit organizations, from housing services in Chicago to student-focused higher education systems in Utah, has shaped her approach to the behind-the-scenes work at Adventure Works. Staying mission-driven and committed to integrity, they are so excited to ethically expand and develop AW's amazing programs. She is a graduate of DePaul University and is currently pursuing a master's in social work at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. When not chipping away at a project or homework on her computer, you can find Liz out in the Utah desert camping with their pup or wandering the trails in the Uinta mountains.

Lynette Spencer, MBA, MSW, LCSW | she/her
Founder, Executive Director
Lynette values authenticity and kindness in her relationships, and has an investment in the human experience with the belief that each person she encounters is the expert on their own life. She is a licensed clinical social worker with a master's degree in social work and a master's in business adminstration. Her favorite pastimes are hiking and watercolor painting.
Jazmin Villa

Jazmin is a dedicated kinesiology student at Northern Illinois University, where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree with a passion for understanding the connection between movement, wellness, and emotional expression. She believes strongly in the importance of allowing people to feel and communicate their emotions, and she brings this philosophy into everything she does—whether in her studies, her work, or her daily life.
Outside of her academic journey, Jazmin is energized by time spent outdoors with her family and friends. She loves exploring new places, traveling, and experiencing the world through different perspectives. Her drive to learn, grow, and support others shapes the foundation of who she is, both personally and professionally.
